Easy 30 Minute Run

Just an easy 30 minute run tonight - no Garmin GPS, no goal pace, no pressure. With a couple of days to go until the Richmond Marathon, I just wanted to get outside, stretch my legs and make sure everything is working! I was surprised how cold it felt to be honest - the temperature gauge in my car read 50°F, but the northerly wind made it feel much colder. Luckily I had a spare of pair of gloves in my sports bag - as long as my hands are warm, the rest of my body feels warm :)

I ran for 15 minutes in one direction, most of it on shortish grass to minimize the impact on my joints. The wind was gusting and it was quite difficult to get into a rhythm. Thankfully the return journey was much more enjoyable - the steady tailwind helped push me along and by the end my body temperature had warmed up considerably.

So, all in all, quite an uneventful run, but another 4 miles in the bank. I'm not experiencing any pain or soreness in my legs, which is naturally a good sign for the race. I just hope that attempting a second marathon so close to Marine Corps isn't too crazy an idea.
